KUCHING: Sarawak police has denied the state government’s involvement in fielding 500 security personnel to Sabah for official duties.
Recently, a Facebook user claimed that the Sarawak government had ordered 500 security personnel to Sabah recently for the state election.
This, however, was proven false by Sarawak Deputy Police Commissioner Datuk Dev Kumar M M Sree in a statement.
“The deployment of 500 security personnel to Sabah was the decision of the police department itself and had nothing to do with the Sarawak government,” he said.
As of last Saturday (Oct 10), the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) reported seven positive Covid-19 cases involving security personnel who have just returned from performing their official duties in Sabah.
