KUCHING: Sarawak will focus on education, health, and road connectivity in rural areas with the RM50 million worth of projects that it has full control over its development and implementation.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said these three sectors in rural areas are among the top priorities for development in the state.
“We have many projects in the education, health and rural roads that are under RM50 million.
“In general, these three sectors have a significant allocation. You just imagine we have about RM4 billion allocated to us including this small project,” Abang Johari said.
He said these during a press conference held after chairing the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Supreme Council Meeting at the party’s headquarters yesterday (Apr 1).
Abang Johari, who is also the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman and PBB president also said that the development projects will be implemented as quickly as possible.
“They have agreed for us to carry out the projects as a full package,” he said, referring to the director-general of the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) in the Prime Minister’s Department. “This means that projects covering all stages from consultant to support service to tender board are all to be done in Sarawak.”
