KUCHING: The Sarawak government is still in the process of negotiating more flight connectivity to Kuching and other cities in the state.

Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Hamzah there are possibilities to have more flights from Singapore to Sarawak.

“Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg spoke about increasing flight connectivity between Singapore and Sarawak during the official launching of the Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office Singapore (Statos) recently.

“We are very happy to see this effort of getting more flights to Sarawak and it is progressing well,” Karim  told reporters after the flagging-off of the 2019 Kuching Marathon at Padang Merdeka, Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg early yesterday morning.

He said aside from Singapore, the state government was also looking at flights coming in from Brunei, Jakarta, and China.

“We will announce it. As at the moment we are still in the negotiation stage with several airlines.

“After we sign the

contracts, we will announce the good news to the people,” said Karim.
