KUCHING: The passing of former State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Bujang Mohd Nor is a great loss for Sarawak.
Deputy Prime Minister and Petra Jaya MP Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said Bujang Nor had contributed a lot not only to the civil service but also to the nation.
“Sarawak has lost an honourable figure whose service is great not only to the civil service, but also to the people of Sarawak and the country,” he said when extending his condolences to Bujang Nor’s family in a Facebook post.
Meanwhile, Works Minister and Kapit MP Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said Bujang Nor’s contributions will be remembered.
“He has contributed a lot to the Sarawak government and his exemplary service will always be cherished,” Nanta said.
He also extended his condolences to the deceased’s family.
Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian was also saddened by the passing of Bujang Nor.
“Tan Sri was a family friend, (he was) the Sarawak State Financial Secretary when my father was Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Finance then,” he said.
Dr Sim said Bujang Nor was the president of the Old Josephians Association (OJA) for more than 20 years, adding that he was privileged to succeed the latter.
“I will always remember Tan Sri for his jokes and his love for BMW,” said Dr Sim.
Meanwhile,State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Deputy Speaker and Muara Tuang assemblyman Datuk Idris Buang when conveying his condolences described the late Bujang Nor as a delightful friend to be with.
“He was rich with his wonderful sense of humour and smiles, a serious worker, disciplined, dedicated and trustworthy. He was a passionate enthusiast of sports, a respectable elder amid all and sundry,” he said.
Bujang Nor, 88, passed away at the Normah Medical Specialist Centre yesterday (Oct 10) at 8.40 pm.
He leaves behind his wife Datuk Seri Dayang Lela Abang Zawawi, two sons and four daughters.
