SRI AMAN: 565 people on parole (ODPs) had participated in the Corporate Smar t Internshi p (CSI ) , a special programme which involves cooperat ion between the government and private companies for all of last year.
Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Dato Masir Kujat said so during the launching of the Message from Prison programme at the Sri Aman Mini Stadim yesterday.
According to him, all the ODPs had worked in the manufacturing, agricultural, industrial, service industry based on offers by private companies involved in the programme.
“ODPs are inmates who have repented and stood a chance to endure half of their remaining sentence according to the regulations implemented.
To ensure that they contribute to society, the ODPs are given a chance to do so by participating in CSI,” said Masir.
He also hoped that the Ministry of Home Affairs could step up in their efforts so that 300 ODPs could par t icipat e in CSI this year after the tremendous success of last year’s participants.
“However, it is very important that private companies or corporate sectors maintain their social responsibility in helping the Prison Department and Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation achieve our objectives.
Also present at the ceremony were General Director of the Malaysian Prison Department, Dato Sr i Haj i Zulki f l i Omar, State Police Commissioner, Dato Sri Amer Haji Awal, Sri Aman Resident, Indit Bangai, government officers and government staff.
