KUCHING: Malaysian Information Department Sarawak branch will organise a state-level Pidato Kenegaraan 2019 (National Public Speaking Competition 2019) at Dewan Jubli Perak, Kuching Polytechnic on July 18.
The theme for this year’s competition is ‘Sayangi Malaysiaku’.
The competition is a programme held face to face and speaking by ‘Ted Talk’.
Its objectives are to enhance awareness, knowledge and understanding of the nation’s foreign policies and to strengthen self-confidence, patriotism and unity among the people.
This year’s competition is open to all Malaysians with the aim of attaining Vision 2020 though the national language and involving all communities.
There were 14 contestants in the preliminary rounds and only three qualified for the final.
The finalists are Canigia Uden Ben representing Kapit, Lawas is represented by Zufadli and Meradong represented by Arif Adam Patahul Arifin.
Mas Gading MP Mordi Bimol is expected to officate at the final of the competition.
The champion will represent Sarawak at the national-level of the competition which will be held in Kedah in September.
