KUCHING: The annual state-level Youth Day celebration will be held at Dewan Sukan Tan Sri Datuk Amar Stephen Kalong Ningkan, Betong from 27 to 29 October.
This year, only three State Youth awards will be given out. One for men, the second for women and the third, association. This was disclosed by Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports, Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah in a press conference held at Baitulmakmur here yesterday.
“Previously 10 youth icons were chosen but now we want to pick only the best just like how the National Youth Day awards were given out, ” he said, adding that 3,000 youths will be present during the launching ceremony.
Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg will grace the launching ceremony on the second day. Abdul karim also disclosed that this year’s Youth Day logo was designed by Nur Afifah Yusuf, 24, from Limbang.
“The logo reflects energetic youths who can contribute greatly to the state while the theme chosen for this year’s Youth Day is ‘Belia Pencetus Inspirasi, Pemacu Inovasi,” he added.
