DALAT: Sarawak has forwarded an application to establish a sports school in the state similar to the one at SMK Bukit Jalil.
“That application has been forwarded to Youth and Sports Minister Khairi Jamaluddin at the closing ceremony of 18th Paralympiad Malaysia on 18 August last year,” said Minister of Welfare, Community Well-Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Datuk Hajah Fatimah Abdullah.
She added the proposed sports school in Sarawak should be inclusiveness in nature, by not only covering the development of the sports for normal student but also the disabled ones (OKU).
And for the short term approach, Fatimah reiterated, the upgrading of SMK Tabuan Kuching was necessary as it is the only school that pays special attention to the development of sports in the state.
She stated this while launching the Sarawak Disabled Sports Talent Identification Programme (TID) at Stadium Perpaduan, here, recently.
The TID programme is an initiative of her ministry and being assisted by Sarawak Sports Council and local agencies.
