THE role of Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (PETROS) as the single gas aggregator will streamline operations, attract strategic investments and boost state revenue, while also supporting the vision of the Sarawak Gas Roadmap.
Johnny Pang (GPS-Tanjong Batu) said that with the PETROS leading in this capacity, Sarawak stood poised to become a key player in Malaysia’s energy sector, driving growth and prosperity for all Sarawakians.
“As a priority, we also hope to see the benefits of our gas resources reach local households. Given Bintulu’s status as the region’s main oil and gas town, I urge that plans be put in place to extend gas pipelines to domestic residences in Bintulu.
“This will not only provide our people with an affordable energy source but also symbolise the direct impact of Sarawak’s gas wealth,” he said this when debating on the Supply Bill 2025 today (Nov 15).
He said that this important designation not only strengthened Sarawak’s control over its natural
resources but also ensured that the wealth generated from gas assets benefitted the people of Sarawak directly.
“By empowering PETROS to manage and aggregate gas supply within Sarawak, we are taking a bold step toward greater economic independence and resource security for our state,” he said.
