KUCHING: The State Health Department today (Aug 18) declared 11 new clusters in the state, mostly in the districts of Kuching, Serian, Sibu and Selangau.
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) revealed that the clusters in Kuching comprised one community cluster and three workplace clusters.
“The Kampung Muara Tebas 2 cluster is the only community cluster in the district involving residents of a village at Jalan Kampung Muara Tebas, off Jalan Sungai Bako in Petra Jaya.
“Of the 135 people who were tested, 43 including the index case were positive while 92 were negative,” it said.
The Jalan DBKU cluster is a workplace cluster involving workers of a local government administration at Jalan DBKU, Petra Jaya.
The SDMC said of 144 people who were tested, 15 including the index case were positive while 129 were negative.
The Jalan Tenaga cluster is another workplace cluster involving workers at an agricultural processing factory located at Jalan Tenaga, Bintawa Industrial Area.
Of the 142 people who were tested, 13 including the index case were positive while 129 were negative.
Another workplace cluster, the Central Park Batu 3 cluster, involved vendors and stall workers at a food premises at Central Park Commercial Centre, Batu 3, Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce.
The committee said of the 52 people who were tested, 19 including the index case were positive while 40 were negative.
The SDMC revealed that the Serian district also recorded five new clusters comprising community and workplace clusters.
“The Tanah Mawang cluster is a community cluster involving a few residents in a village at Kampung Tanah Mawang, Jalan Serian-Sri Aman, Balai Ringin.
“Of the 77 people who were tested, 54 including the index case were positive while 23 were negative,” added the committee.
Another community cluster, the Semada cluster, involved a few residents from three villages, namely, Kampung Semada Tengah, Semada Mawang and Semada Belatok at Kampung Semada, off Jalan Serian-Sri Aman, Balai Ringin.
The SDMC said that of the 76 people who were tested, 55 including the index case were positive while 21 were negative.
On the Kampung Sungai Linsat cluster, the committee said it was a community cluster involving residents of a village currently under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) at Kampung Sungai Linsat, Balai Ringin.
“Of the 72 people who were tested, 65 including the index case were positive while seven were negative. Sadly, the cluster also recorded one death case,” said the SDMC.
It said the Ensebang Plaie cluster in Serian was another community cluster involving residents in a village of Ensebang Plaie at Jalan Ensebang.
The committee said of the 38 people who were tested, 34 including the index case were positive while four were negative.
“The Batu 25 Jalan Kuching-Serian cluster is the only workplace cluster in the Serian district involving occupants of the workers quarters of a brick making factory at Batu 25, Jalan Kuching-Serian, Siburan.
“Of the 52 people who were tested, 36 including the index case were positive while 16 were negative. The cluster also recorded 11 new cases today,” said the SDMC.
It added that the Tanjung Kibong 2 cluster in Sibu was a workplace cluster involving occupants of a workers quarter of a ship at Lorong Tanjung Kibong 2 (Sungai Igan).
The committee said of the 60 people who were tested, 17 including the index case were positive and eight of them were foreigners.
It added 30 people were negative while 13 were still waiting for their test results. It said the cluster today recorded seven new cases.
Meanwhile, it said the Dijih cluster in Selangau was a workplace cluster involving occupants of the workers quarters of a palm oil plantation in the Dijih area.
Of the 33 people who were tested, 13 including the index case were positive while 20 were negative.
The SDMC said five new cases were recorded from the cluster today.
It added all positive cases from each cluster had been admitted to respective hospitals and the Covid-19 quarantine and low-risk treatment centres (PKRC) for isolation and treatment.
The committee also announced the end of the Seuja cluster in Serian after it recorded no new cases in the past 28 days.
There are still 119 active clusters in Sarawak, with 16 of them recording 113 new cases today.
