State records 175 new COVID-19 cases in Epid Week 22

KUCHING: Sarawak reported 175 new COVID-19 cases during Epid (epidemiological) Week 22, a significant drop from the 304 cases recorded in Epid Week 21.

According to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee’s (SDMC) weekly report released today, Kuching remained the state’s most affected district during Epid Weeks 21 and 22, with 119 and 67 cases respectively.

Sibu with 22 cases, Miri (30) and Bintulu (16) were among the districts with double-digit cases in Epid Week 22.

The remaining districts with zero positive cases in Epid Week 22 were Selangau, Pusa, Kanowit, Asajaya, Kabong, Tanjung Manis, Beluru, Matu, Telang Usan, Song, Tebedu, Meradong, Lubok Antu, Marudi, Julau, and Bukit Mabong.

This brings the total number of cases in Epid Week 22 to 306,725 from 306,550 in Epid Week 21.

Meanwhile, two deaths were reported in Epid Week 21, while none were reported in Epid Week 22.
