KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 213 new positive Covid-19 cases today (Mar 26), bringing the state’s tally to 15,176.
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said 46 of these cases were reported in Bintulu District, Miri (39), Sibu (35), Kuching (23), Serian (23), Kapit (14), Samarahan (11), Julau (eight), Sarikei (six), Sri Aman (six), Limbang (one) and Tebedu (one).
“Of the 213 cases reported, 31 persons exhibited signs and symptoms of Covid-19 infection during screening,” they said in a statement today.
They said 178 of the cases detected were individuals who had been directed to undergo quarantine at quarantine centres.
Of these 178 cases, 168 persons were those identified as close contacts of positive Covid-19 cases, five were individuals who had returned from high-risk areas (Import B), and another five had returned from overseas (Import A).
On the breakdown of the 213 new cases reported today, the committee said 127 of the cases were individuals who had contact with positive Covid-19 cases.
“Forty-one cases were individuals involved in the existing active clusters, 20 cases were other screenings at health facilities, and 15 were screenings on symptomatic persons at health facilities.
“Five cases involved individuals who had returned from other states in Malaysia, categorised as Import B cases. Another five cases involved individuals who had returned from overseas, that is, Papua New Guinea (Import A),” said SDMC.
