KUCHING: Sarawak today recorded 413 new COVID-19 cases and five new backlog deaths.
According to the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), 408 of the new cases were of categories 1 and 2, while five were categories 4 and 5 cases.
“There were 128 category 1 cases and 280 category 2 cases. Meanwhile, there were two category 4 cases and three category 5 cases,” it said in its daily COVID-19 update today.
The committee said Kuching registered the most cases with 131, followed by Miri with 54 and Sibu with 50 cases.
On the backlog of death cases, SDMC said the first one involved an 86-year-old man from Kuching who passed away on March 31.
“The rest of the deaths recorded on April 5 involved a woman, 75, from Bintulu; a 60-year-old man from Serian and two men aged 47 and 76 from Kuching.
“All the deceased had histories of comorbidities,” it added.
Apart from that, the SDMC also announced the end of the Tebingan Sungai Kuching Cluster in Kuching after no new cases were reported within the past 14 days.
“The number of clusters in Sarawak is now at five with no new additional cases reported in the existing clusters,” it said.
