KUCHING: Sarawak today (Oct 23) recorded the lowest number of cases in over two months with only 587 new Covid-19 cases.
This was a significant decrease of 163 cases, compared to Friday’s 750 cases.
According to the daily report by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), 576 or 98.13 percent of the Covid-19 cases comprised categories 1 and 2, while 11 cases (1.87 percent) were in categories 3, 4, and 5.
This pushed the cumulative number of cases in the state tally to 235,802 as of today (Saturday).
Kuching topped the list of new cases with 156, followed by Miri (120); Sibu (84); Bintulu and Limbang (32 each); Sarikei (17); Serian (16); Samarahan (14) and Betong (10).
Nine cases each were reported in Simunjan and Dalat; eight cases each in Tanjung Manis and Meradong; seven cases each in Mukah and Subis; six cases in Kapit; five cases each in Bau, Pusa and Kanowit and four cases each in Saratok, Lundu, Kabong, Telang Usan and Beluru.
Three cases each were registered in Julau, Sri Aman, and Bukit Mabong; two cases each in Marudi and Matu and one case each in Song, Asajaya, Pakan and Sebauh. The committee also announced the end of two Covid-19 clusters in the state, namely, the KM20 Jalan Betong cluster in the Betong district and the Julin Dabai cluster in the Marudi
