SIBU: Sarawak recorded a drop of 271 dengue cases (31.6 percent) until November 3 this year, thanks to collaborative efforts from all involved in fighting it.
According to State Federal Secretary Dato’ Mansor Man, 586 cases were reported between January until November this year as compared to 857 cases during the same period last year.
“The reduction in dengue cases can be attributed to the effective collaborative roles played by the community and authorities.

“We should not be complacent but instead should continually be vigilant and proactive in fighting dengue,” he said during a mass gotong-royong at Farley Commercial Centre, Salim Road yesterday.
A total of 340 participants from government department and agencies and non-governmental organisation (NGOs), as well as voluntary individuals took part in the programme.

Mansor said Kuching recorded 133 cases, followed by Sibu (88), Samarahan (69), Betong (59), Kapit (50), Miri (41), Serian (39), Sarikei (38), Sri Aman (33), Bintulu (15), Limbang (12), and Mukah (9).
