KUCHING: Sarawak recorded five new positive Covid-19 cases yesterday, bringing the total number of cases in the state to 523 to date.
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said of the new cases, three were recorded in Samarahan, and one each in Kuching and Sibu.
“One is from Kuching Conference cluster, one from the Sri Petaling cluster, one from a minor cluster and the other two are still under investigation.
“As of today, eleven patients have recovered and discharged from hospital and all the cases are from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH),” it said in a statement on the daily Covid-19 update yesterday.
Meanwhile, 194 patients are still under treatment at SGH, twelve in Sibu Hospital, ten in Bintulu Hospital and five in Miri Hospital.
“Two of them are receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at SGH and one in Sibu Hospital, while two others who needed intubation are at SGH at one patient in Sibu Hospital,” it said.
SDMC said there were 73 person-under-investigation (PUI) cases recorded, and 182 PUI cases were still awaiting laboratory test results.
“One more healthcare worker in Kuching was tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the total number of such cases to 58.
“Twenty of them are from the Kuching Conference cluster, while 36 are from minor clusters,” it said.
On Sarawakians returning from overseas and other states, it said there were 578 person-under-surveillance (PUS) and they have been transported to designated hotels for quarantine.
“A total of 60 individuals have completed the quarantine period and were allowed to return to their respective homes,” it said.
Public compliance to the MCO remained at 97.3 per cent while 17 individuals were arrested over the weekend for flouting the order.
Since the enforcement on MCO on March 18, a total of 2,004 individuals have been arrested and 1,363 charged for the offence.
