State records four new clusters

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded four new Covid-19 clusters today (Aug 26).

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said two are community clusters while the other two are workplace clusters.

The Sibuluh-Nowang cluster in Bau District is a community cluster involving two villages namely Kampung Sibuluh and Kampung Nowang located at Jalan Bau-Lundu.

Of the 145 people who were screened, 39 including the index case tested positive for Covid-19, 83 tested negative while 23 are still waiting for results.

All positive cases are now receiving treatment at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and Covid-19 Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) in Kuching.

The other community cluster, known as the Telok Batu Cluster in Meradong District involved a longhouse that has been placed under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO).

Of the 60 people who were tested, 16 including the index case were found positive and 42 were negative with two others still awaiting lab results. The cluster also recorded 13 new cases today.

All positive cases are now receiving treatment at the Sarikei Hospital and Covid-19 Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) in Maradong District.

Meanwhile, the Se-menyan Cluster is a workplace cluster involving workers and occupants of two farms located at Sengan and Menyan areas in Sibu District.

Of the 293 people who were screened, 66 including the index case tested positive for Covid-19, 205 tested negative, and 22 still waiting for results. The cluster also recorded 66 new cases today.

All positive cases are now receiving treatment at Sibu Hospital and Covid-19 Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) in Sibu District.

The other workplace cluster is the Jalan Hulu Engkamop Cluster in Pakan District involving workers and residents of two temporary camps of communication towers located at Jalan Hulu Engkamop.

Of the 60 people who were tested, 14 including the index case tested positive, 45 tested negative, and one still awaiting lab results. The cluster also recorded seven new cases today.

All positive cases are now receiving treatment at Sarikei Hospital and Covid-19 Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) in Sarikei District.

On a lighter note, SDMC also reported the end of four clusters namely the Mongkos 2 cluster in Tebedu, Jalan Demak Laut cluster in Kuching, Sungai Mangga cluster in Simunjan, and Kerina cluster in Serian after no new cases were reported involving these clusters in the last 28 days.

Presently, there are 119 active clusters in the state, with 18 clusters recording 246 new additional cases and the other 101 recorded no new cases.

SDMC also announced the imposition of EMCO at 22 localities in the state today.  

Four localities namely the Tabau Plantations staff quarters in Tatau district; Rumah Dunggat Anak Gani, Sungai Mas Jalan Pesisiran Kuala Tatau; Rumah Sait Anak Jaya, KM22 Jalan Bintulu-Tatau and Rumah Layang Anak Kusau, Sungai Mas, Jalan Pesisiran Kuala Tatau in Bintulu district.

A rented room above Chicwan Medan Jaya in Bintulu District, SOP Sebungan Estate in Sebauh District and Rumah Ulen Anak Segaya, Ng Tekalit in Tatau District was placed under EMCO from Aug 25 until Sept 7.

Rumah Angos and Rumah Hilary, Kampung Nyelam in Sri Aman District; Rumah Jamid Pudai in Lubok Antu district; TR. Lenjau Lian Uma Seping Long Bala; Uma Daro and Uma Belor at Sungai Asap, SMK Bakun quarters, Simpang Anding canteen in Belaga district were placed under EMCO from Aug 26 until Sept 8 whereas Rumah Kilat, Sungai Engkabang Tugong in Pakan District were placed under EMCO from Aug 26 until Sept 11.

The EMCO will be enforced from Aug 27 until Sept 9 at Rumah William, Buloh Antu; Rumah Robert Walter, Nanga Gayau, Debak; Rumah Lembang, Inar, Debak; Rumah Legom, Serunggap, Debak in Betong District, Kampung Opar in Bau District and Rumah Ungkie, Tabau in Lubok Antu District.

Meanwhile, the EMCO has been extended for Kampung Bungey, Debak in Betong District; Sri Datai Mining Sdn Bhd staff quarters in Mukah District and Kampung Baru, Kota Samarahan in Samarahan District starting from today (Aug 27) until Sept 9 whereas EMCO will be extended at Kampung Medang, Spaoh in Betong District starting from Aug 30 until Sept 13. EMCO at Kampung Tuie in Pusa District will also be extended from Sept 1 until Sept 14.

The committee also reported that EMCO has ended today (Aug 26) at Rumah Munan, Sungai Kuap in Sarikei District; Kampung Braang Payang, Padawan; Kampung Pulo Hilir & Kampung Pulo Ulu and Kampung Samariang Batu in Kuching District.

SDMC also reported that the zone status for Maradong District has turned Orange from Yellow after reporting 25 cases in the past 14 days.

Altogether, 25 districts remain as red zones, six districts as orange zones, seven districts remain as yellow zones while two districts are green zones.
