KUCHING: Sarawak recorded three Covid-19 fatalities and 461 positive cases today (July 23), down from 644 cases recorded the previous day.
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the cumulative number of cases now stands at 73,318 with the death toll at 453 cases.
Kuching district accounted for 184 new cases; Simunjan (30); 29 cases each recorded in Bintulu and Dalat districts; Serian and Sibu (28 cases each); Miri (26); Samarahan (22); Bau (20); Sri Aman (11); Beluru (10); Subis (nine); Saratok (seven); Lundu (six) and Asajaya (five) cases.
Three cases were reported in Mukah, Kapit, Telang Usan, and Selangau districts respectively; two cases each in Tatau and Meradong districts; and one case in Sarikei.
A total of seventy-seven out of the 461 cases are individuals who were symptomatic during the Covid-19 screening.
Meanwhile, there were 637 new recoveries and discharges from hospitals statewide on Friday.
These bring the number of recovered and discharged cases thus far to 68,399 or 93.29 percent of the total number of cases in Sarawak.
There are 4,298 individuals still undergoing treatment at PKRC and hospital isolation wards in the state.
SDMC said the three death cases involved locals who had comorbidities.
The 451st death involved a 91-year-old woman from Bintulu who tested positive on May 27.
The 452nd death was a 61-year-old woman from Sibu who tested positive on July 2 while the third death recorded on Friday was also from Sibu involving a 59-year-old man.
