KUCHING: Sarawak recorded two new Covid-19 fatalities today (Apr 29), bringing the death toll to 173.
State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the 172nd death involved case 29,076, a 90-year-old local woman who was found unconscious at home by her family members.
“The case was referred to Kapit Hospital on April 26 and was pronounced dead on the same day.
“A reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (rT-PCR) test was done and it returned positive on the same day.
“The deceased had history of stroke and high blood pressure,” it said today (Apr 29).
Meanwhile, the 173rd death involved case 27,331, a 47-year-old local woman whose rT-PCR test result came back positive on April 22.
“The case was detected via active case detection in high-risk area and was later admitted to a Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) for further treatment.
“She experienced sudden bad coughs and has fallen unconscious. The case was then referred to Bintulu Hospital on April 28 but her health deteriorated and was pronounced dead on the same day.
“She has history of high blood pressure, diabetes and dyslipidemia.
“SDMC extends its condolences to all family members of the victims,” the committee said.
On another matter, the committee said Sri Aman district has changed its status to red from orange after recording 51 local infection cases in the past 14 days.
This brings the total number of red zones to 23.
“Seven districts remain orange, nine yellow and one green,” it added.
