State registers uptick in weekly COVID-19 cases

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded a total of 267 COVID-19 cases during the 23rd epidemiology (epid) week (June 5 to 11) compared to 175 cases during the previous epidemiology week.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in its weekly COVID-19 update said the new cases bring the cumulative COVID-19 cases in the state to 306,992.

It said that during the 23rd epid week, 260 cases of the 267 cases were in category one and two, while seven cases were in category three, four, and five.

The committee said in the same period, Kuching recorded the highest number of cases at 96, followed by Miri (32), Sibu (26), Bintulu (26), Samarahan (13), Serian (11) and Limbang (nine).

Eight cases were reported in Bau, five cases in Sri Aman and Kapit, four cases in Betong, Mukah, Selangau and Meradong, three cases in Saratok and Lubok, two cases in Tatau and Sarikei and one case each in Dalat, Kabong, Beluru, Telang Usan, Song and Julau.

Only one COVID-19 death in Bintulu was reported during the 23rd epid week, while no COVID-19 deaths were reported during the previous epid week.
