State reports 20 fatalities with six brought-in dead cases

KUCHING: Sarawak reported 20 Covid-19 deaths today (Oct 7), including six brought-in dead (BID) cases, comprising mostly elderly people with comorbidities.

Fourteen of the deaths occurred between Oct 1 and Oct 6, while one death case occurred on Sept 7, Sept 23, Sept 27, Sept 29 and Sept 30 respectively.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the oldest death involved an 83-year-old man from Limbang who passed away at Limbang Hospital on Sept 30.

The youngest death case was recorded on Oct 2 involving a 38-year-old woman from Sri Aman who died at Sri Aman Hospital.

“The woman has history of high blood pressure, dyslipidemia and obesity,” said SDMC in a statement.

Five deaths are those below the age of 60, which involved a 44-year-old man from Sarikei (Sept 23), a 55-year-old man from Bintulu (Sept 27), a 46-year-old man from Kuching (Oct 1), a 57-year-old man from Bintulu and a 45-year-old woman from Kuching who both died on Oct 2.

On other matter, SDMC has decided to enforce the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) at six localities from four districts.

These localities are Rumah Philip, Ulu Strass in Julau from Oct 6 until Oct 16; Rh. Waine Jimmy, Batu 2 in Pakan and Rumah Michael Balo Anak Jaul, Skim Rancangan Sepupok at Niah in Subis from Oct 7 until Oct 16.

From Oct 8 until Oct 18, the EMCO is enforced at Rumah Lidi, Ulu Babu at Debak, Rumah Ungah at Remambong and Rumah Mambu at Gerugu in Betong district.

Meanwhile, SDMC has ended the EMCO at 11 localities from five districts, namely Rumah Jampong, Melaban in Limbang, Rumah Tuntun, Seduku Ili at Lingga, Rumah Edwin Manca at Sungai Besai and Rumah Gilbert Melina at Tanjung Bijat in Sri Aman which ended on Oct 7.

“The EMCO also ended on Oct 7 at Rumah Kam, Belok Kelili at Debak, Rumah Bulie at Lidong Pandak, Rumah Steward at Selangking and Rumah Kelimbang at Penyulok in Betong, Rumah Libau and Rumah Kunjan at Naga Buku, Pakan.

“EMCO at Rumah Panjang Sigah Anak Lak, Sungai Baoh Burak in Dalat will end tomorrow (Oct 8),” it said.

The committee has also decided to extend the EMCO at Rh. Nyuin, Tanjung Bijat in Sri Aman from Oct 7 until Oct 17.
