KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 184 new positive COVID-19 cases on Wednesday (Feb 9), an increase of 55 cases compared to Tuesday’s (Feb 8) 129 cases.
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in its daily update, said the cumulative number of cases now stands at 253,400.
“Of the 184 new cases, 101 are in Category 1 (no symptoms) and 80 are in Category 2 (mild symptoms). There is one case each in Category 3 (lung infection), Category 4 (lung infection and requires oxygen), and Category 5 (lung infection and requires ventilator),” it said.
The committee said Kuching accounted for 79 cases, Miri (39), Sibu (28), Lundu (10), Bintulu (eight), Kapit (six), Limbang (four), and two each in Sarikei and Samarahan.
Serian, Song, Meradong, Belaga, Lawas and Kanowit each recorded one case.
SDMC added that no new deaths were reported today.
Fifteen new persons-under-surveillance (PUS) were recorded, bringing the total number of PUS under quarantine to 256.
