SIBU: This year’s state-level Women’s Day celebration will shine the spotlight on the remarkable achievements of Sarawakian women in the fields of innovation and technology.
“And much like the previous years, we will also publish a book in conjunction with the celebration,” said Women, Early Childhood and Community Well-being Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah
“Right now, the book is in the editing process, and the title will be after the theme of our celebration which is ‘Sarawak Women in Innovation and Technology’.
“The book will also be launched during the celebration, which will be held at a later date,” she said during a meeting on the upcoming event at University Technology Sarawak, here on today (Feb 27).
She stated the purpose of the celebration is to recognise the contribution of Sarawak women towards the development of the state and Malaysia.
“Most of all, we want to recognise the achievements and diverse successes of Sarawakian women who have brought honour to Sarawak in particular, and Malaysia in general,” she added.
“Because of our documentation, we are able to recognise how influential our Sarawak women are in terms of their contribution.
“Their contribution is not limited towards innovation and research.
“In fact, their contributions span across various fields, notably impacting the development of Sarawak and beyond,” she added.
Around 1,000 participants are expected for the celebration in Sibu which will be officiated by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Six awards will be given namely Anugerah Datuk Patinggi Laila Taib, Anugerah Premier Sarawak Kepimpinan Wanita, Anugerah Premier Sarawak Keusahawan Wanita, Anugerah Premier Sarawak Penggiat Sosial Wanita, Anugerah Premier Sarawak Pencapaian Khas and Anugerah Premier Sarawak NGO Cemerlang.
