KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Sarawak government has welcomed the federal Youth and Sports Ministry’s (KBS) plan to have the state host the KBS recreational games at the end of this year.
Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the issue was brought up during a recent visit by representatives from the Ministry to his office.
He explained that the implementation of the event aims to strengthen friendship between representatives of the ministry regardless of political affiliations.
“That’s a good suggestion from KBS and we very much welcome it, I believe sports can bring people together even if they are from different parties.
“The plan only involves the ministry and top officials, so the location (of the games) will probably be rotated, also involving the peninsula and Sabah,” he said.
“We will continue to negotiate what kind of sports, dates to arrange accommodation and so on.
“But this will not involve many sports since it only involves ministries,” he said.
