KUCHING: The Sarawak government will increase its allocation for the ‘Sumbangsih Raya’ programme next year.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said his wife had proposed that next year, in addition to snacks, instant noodles be added to the contributions given to enforcement personnel.
He said those on duty during Hari Raya could then enjoy something more fulfilling besides just snacks.
“My wife whispered to me, she saw boxes of snacks and various dishes. She said, if possible, we should add more next year. Now, even instant ‘kolok mi’ is available.
“Hopefully, the Sarawak government’s revenue will increase, so we can increase assistance even more.
“Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah also welcomed the suggestion. This means we will increase allocations to distribute contributions to them,” he said at the handover ceremony for the ‘Sumbangsih Raya’ 2024 programme at Wisma Bapa on today.
In expressing appreciation to the enforcement personnel, Abang Johari said they had sacrificed a lot of time in carrying out their duties as front-liners.
As such, he lauded the organisation of the annual event by the Ministry for Women, Childhood, and Community Well-being Development.
“Every year, we hold this event to distribute contributions to those who are on duty during Raya from the Sarawak government.
“And from year to year, we add the number of enforcement agencies serving in Sarawak to receive this Raya contribution.
“During Hari Raya, some may be with their families, but others may be far from them. But in the festive atmosphere, we also want those carrying out duties to be happy together,” he said.
Also present during the event were his wife Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, Ministry for Women, Childhood, and Community Well-being Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, and wife Datin Amar Baduyah Bujan, as well as Federal Secretary Ahmad Nazri Mohd Hassan.
