KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 168 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday (March 11), bringing the total number to 11,878.
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said of the total, only 13 people or 7.74 per cent showed symptoms of the coronavirus when screened.
“Sibu District recorded 49 cases followed by Bintulu (37), Miri (19), Betong (19), Kuching (12), Kapit (10), Meradong (10), Bau (four), Julau (four), Mukah (three) and Limbang (one).
“A total of 92 cases were screened – seven symptomatic individuals (close contact) while 42 were asymptomatic individuals (active clusters),” SDMC said on Thursday (March 11).
SDMC added that six cases were symptomatic individuals screened at health facilities and 26 were asymptomatic individuals from other screenings at health facilities.
There was an Import A case from Lebanon and an Import B case from Selangor recorded on Thursday.
On another note, SDMC revealed that the Health Department had declared the end of Jalan Pengiran, Matu Cluster in Mukah.
“The cluster was declared on Jan 31 this year and the last case involving this cluster was detected on Feb 10. A total of 326 individuals were screened with 24 cases, including the index case, and 302 individuals were negative.
“There are 26 active clusters remaining in the state with seven clusters recording addition of new cases.”
Jalan Muhibbah Cluster in Betong recorded an addition of 19 cases while Sungai Bakong Cluster in Meradong recorded nine new cases.
Four new cases were recorded in Gelong Cluster in Kapit and Bukit Tunggal Cluster in Julau respectively while Kiba Cluster in Sibu had three new cases.
In Kuching District, Emperoh Jambu Cluster and Jalan Green Cluster recorded two and one respectively.
