KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud yesterday received a courtesy call from the Sarawak State’s Public Service Commission led by its Chairman Datu Abdul Ghafur Shariff at Demak Jaya in Kuching. This courtesy visit is an annual event to brief Tun Taib on the latest development in the public service sector in the State.

Abdul Ghafur who has been helming the PSC after being appointed as its Chairman since 1 August 2011, said a total of 184, 078 Sarawakians applied for vacancies in the public service sector last year.

From that figure, a total of 3867 were called for interview and out of that, 709 candidates succeeded in getting the jobs.
