KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has garnered statewide support from Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) to lead the party at the state election to ensure continuity of prosperity and development in Sarawak.

Echoing PBB Northern Zone, Central Zone and Betong Zone conventions, party senior vice-president Datuk Amar Michael Manyin Jawong said PBB Southern Zone gave full mandate to Abang Johari and expressed their desire for him to stay on as chief minister.

He said PBB Southern Zone also acknowledged and supported the current group of leaders in PBB.

“We appreciate and fully support the spirit of solidarity as well as the teamwork in PBB’s line-up of leaders including others in Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

“This proves that there is a high level of maturity, sincerity and influence in caring for the people as well as implementing an inclusive approach and concern in governing the state.

“Therefore, we motioned that this excellent leadership continues towards Sarawak becoming the most developed state by 2030,” he said.

Manyin said PBB Southern Zone also backed the chief minister in his bid to defend Sarawak’s rights as enshrined in Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

“We acknowledge and appreciate the impactful success as well as the brilliant efforts by the state government under the leadership of Abang Johari and PBB leaders in fighting for state rights.

“This also includes upholding of Sarawak’s laws such as the Sarawak Sales Tax Ordinance and Oil Minister Ordinance 1958.”
