SIBU: The local people are reminded to stay at home if there is no pressing need to go out.
Local Government and Housing Assistant Minister Dr Annuar Rapaee said although this town is currently a Covid-19 green zone, it does not guarantee 100 percent security against the dreaded virus.
“When going out, please adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) such as wearing face masks, practise physical distancing and so on.
“We do not want non-compliance to cause the spread the virus,” he said when met by reporters at ‘Goohet Santai’ programme in conjunction with the Maulidur Rasul 1442/2020 celebration, here on Sunday (Nov 1).
The programme was jointly organised by the Nangka Service Centre and Goohet Cycling Club.
A total of 100 cyclists participated in the programme including Dr Annuar himself.
The cycling route from Kampung Nangka Pelangi Foodkiosk was 10km long.
The Nangka assemblyman also advised the residents of Sibu to avoid visiting Kuching at the moment.
He pointed out that there was no parade for the Maulidur Rasul Celebration due to the need to comply with the SOP.
He added that his party organised the cycling programme to enliven the celebration amidst the new norms.
