KUCHING: With the festive season approaching, it is essential to keep in mind that the COVID-19 virus is still present.

Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government I (Public Health and Housing) Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil said while Sarawakian will continue the tradition of visiting friends, relatives and colleagues during the upcoming Hari Raya celebration, everyone must remain constantly aware of the virus’s presence.

“We must continue to practise the standard operating procedures (SOPs) and necessary public health measures to minimise the spread of the disease,” he said

He also said that wearing masks in crowded and public places is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of COVID-19. He also advised that people should carry hand sanitiser with them and use it frequently, particularly after shaking hands with others.

Moreover, as families and friends look forward to celebrating the festive season with their loved ones, he reminded people to stay safe on the roads.
