KUCHING: Unity should constantly be on the agenda as it is the key to progressing towards Sarawak’s 2030 goals.
Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said at the lighting ceremony of the White Cat Statue at Jalan Padungan here last Saturday (May 28).
“We want to ensure that every Sarawakian life to be better and in order for it to be better, we have to work together peacefully, harmoniously, and respect each other to enjoy the prosperity together instead of fighting over the prosperity.
“I urge every Sarawakian to do our part and play our roles so we can continuously march forward towards our goal in 2030, set by our Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
“Unlike the opposition who took out their empty can and asked the people to donate when they were in power, GPS, under our Premier, knows how to generate our income, and it has been proven by the amount of money coming in that enables us to continue with development for our people,” Sim said.
He added that after 59 years, since the formation of Malaysia, the state finally has the golden opportunity, under the GPS government, to ensure the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) is implemented through the Federal Constitution, for the state to take back its rights.
“No one is going to give us back the power and the money unless we stay strong and united.
“The best of Sarawak, the golden era of Sarawak is coming and no one can stop us from doing that unless Sarawakians are not united.
“Under the GPS government, now that we have the money, we are moving on to delivering for the people, as you can see from the many projects throughout Sarawak,” Sim added.
Among those present were Kuching City South Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng and deputy mayor Hilmi Othman.
