KUCHING: Sarawak government has taken the right step to ensure that the state plays an active role in the oil and gas industry.
Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman added that Sarawakians should be proud of the moves by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg to set up the state’s own oil and gas company, Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (Petros) and the launch of Petros’ own liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
By doing so, the state, he pointed out, was exercising its rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
“Petros is one of the state initiatives in getting there. We need to have a start or a foothold in the industry to ensure the main objective is made,” he said on Sunday (Dec 6).
Fazzrudin added the launch of Petros LPG was a milestone for Sarawak.
