KUCHING: The stepfather of a Form Five student was ordered to be detained for six days pending police investigation. The 65-year-old suspect from Jalan Matang was alleged to have molested and raped his stepdaughter whenever he had the opportunity to do so the last two years.
Padawan police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan when contacted by New Sarawak Tribune confirmed that the suspect is detained. The girl has been sent to Sarawak General Hospital for examination and counselling.
The victim’s plights surfaced when she played truant and was asked to see the discipline teacher on May 19. With two friends, she summoned up enough courage to ask for help from her discipline teacher who was to punish her for skipping school.
She told the teacher that she chose to play truant as she was raped by her stepfather last Friday in a jungle in Padawan. It was also her stepfather who transported her to and from school on a motorcycle every day. He would choose a quiet lane and molest her there.
The teacher lodged a police report and the suspect was arrested on Wednesday morning.
In the police’s initial investigation, the suspect admitted to molesting and raping the victim.
It was understood that the victim told her mother about the rape but the woman refused to believe her.
The victim told her mom that if her stepfather raped her again, she would go to the police.
