KUCHING: Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) and its subsidiaries yesterday donated RM80,000 to residents of Kampung Rajang, Kampung Jerijeh and Kampung Belawai in conjunction with Ramadan.
The cash assistance to the underprivileged community was given out as a corporate social responsibility (CSR) of STIDC and its subsidiaries.
The donations were handed over by the general manager of STIDC Hashim Bojet, to Urban Development and Resources Assistant Minister Datuk Len Talif Salleh, who will distribute the donations to the recipients. The handing over ceremony was held at the STIDC Multipurpose Hall at Wisma Sumber Alam here.
Len Talif, a board member of STIDC, said, “This year, the donations are for the elderly, the disabled, single mothers, orphans and the less fortunate. There are 263 recipients from Kampung Rajang, 384 recipients from Kampung Belawai and 149 from Kampung Jerijeh – totalling 796 recipients,” he said in his speech at the event.
“STIDC has played an important role in the development of Tanjung Manis as a timber processing zone and every development is made by taking into account the interests of the local people.
“STIDC and its subsidiaries will continue to extend their social responsibility to the community, especially to those in need,” he added.
