Still no MyKad after spending RM10k on trips

LONG SILAT, ULU BARAM: Lupa Usa, 50,  claimed that he had spent almost RM10,000 in effort to obtain identification card for his wife.

The Kenyah farmer from Long Jeeh, Ulu Baram, said he had made many trips – four  times to Long Jekitan, once to Long San and thrice to Long Silat when JPN Outreach Team came over.

He said he had even made five trips to Miri to check on the application status of his wife.

“So many times I went. Almost RM10,000 had been spent on making trips up and down to get MyKad for wife,” he told the New Sarawak Tribune when met during JPN Outreach operation at Long Silat, the longhouse of Baram Kenyah chief Temenggong Joseph Ngau Lian, here.

That morning he made a trip up by boat from Long Jeeh about half an hour away.

Lupa Usa’s wife Julan Usang, 37, a Penan from Long Jekitan but born in Long Palai, is still without MyKad despite having applied for it for so many times.

She already had her birth certificate. Her case is late registration for MyKad (DLKP)

The last time she checked her application was on 14th June 2016 at Long Silat.

According to Head of JPN Special Mobile Unit (UKB) Miri Affrizan Bin Bujang Lapok, the case was being investigated. After the Investigation and Enforcement Division had completed the process then the application will go to Panel for the late application of MyKad.

Head of JPN Sarawak Special Division, Sylvester Tausin also informed if there are any uncertainties on application submitted it will be referred to the Investigation and Enforcement Division for thorough investigation with regard to information given.

“She already has the document and the next process is to apply for MyKad. I hope they understand,” he said.
