MIRI: A four-wheel drive (4WD), which was reported stolen from a house in Long Bedian, has been found on Sunday (Jan 31) with an arrest of a man at Pujut Corner here.
The suspect, aged 39, is under police custody at Miri Central Police station (CPS) lock-up to assist police probe into the case.
The discovery was made around midnight on Sunday (Jan 31) by a team of personnel from the Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) upon receiving tip-offs from the public.
The owner of the vehicle said earlier, his house was broken into and that the suspect had flee the scene with his 4WD.
During preliminary investigation, the suspect told the police that he had been in the vehicle with another man (who drove the 4WD) from Long Bedian to Miri.
Upon their arrival in Miri, the 4WD was left at Pujut Corner.
Meanwhile, in a separate case, Miri CID on the same day (Jan 31) detained a 28-year-old for allegedly hitting his sister with a plastic chair.
The suspect was apprehended at a house in Jalan Delima Phase 4 here around 8.30pm, acting on a report lodged by the victim.
During the alleged incident which occurred earlier that night, the suspect went berserk after being told by his sister to stop drinking alcohol excessively.
He then grabbed a plastic chair and hit his sister.
Background checks revealed that the suspect has three criminal records.
Miri Police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari, when contacted, confirmed both cases.
