MIRI: A 21-year-old handphone snatcher was detained by the police on Sunday morning (April 25) after they found a stolen iPhone 11 Pro max worth RM3,000 on him.
The crime happened at 11.25am at an eatery in Time Square.
Prior to that, the phone owner, who is a cook at the eatery, placed the phone on a table while doing his work in the kitchen.
Fortunately, via a tracking device in the phone, the owner managed to locate the phone and informed the police.
Miri Police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari said the suspect has been remanded for questioning. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect had five previous criminal records.
The offence comes under Section 379 of the Penal Code.
