KUCHING: DAP has been urged to stop seeking ‘weekly’ cheap publicity and serve the people sincerely.
arawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Batu Kitang branch secretary Amy Tnay said a lot of local issues such as street lights can be solved by contacting the relevant authorities directly.
For instance, she said, the opposition leaders and members can contact Sarawak Energy via the hotline or lodge a report or complain through the SEB cares Mobile Application.
Tnay said the utilities company has been very effective and efficient in addressing issues or complaints, which would usually be solved within 24 hours.
“Thus, there is no need for DAP to ‘advertise’ these problems through newspapers or by demanding the local council to resolve it,” she said in a statement Saturday.
“If DAP is sincere in assisting the public, they can proceed and solve the issue immediately, instead of seeking cheap publicity to gain political mileage,” she said.
Tnay said it could not be denied that local councils, including Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), have a large jurisdiction and it is difficult to take into account all areas.
“So, we hope everyone including the public and DAP will work together with the local council to address the people’s issues,” she added.
