KUCHING: Political observer Datuk Peter Minos is upset with politicians in the peninsula who advocate for a single-race Malaysia.

Never one to mince his words, he warned against such offensive rhetoric, asserting that it is both misguided and detrimental to the unity in the country.

“Malaysia is in fact and in reality multi-racial, multi-religious and multicultural. Why question it and why go for a one-race Malaysia?

“Why say offensive things and imply that other races are inconsequential and not to be bothered or concerned about,” he asked.

Expressing concern over the use of race as a political tool, Minos cautioned against politicians who resort to divisive tactics to gain popularity and secure victories in the upcoming elections in the six peninsula states.

He urged political leaders to refrain from stirring discontent among specific races and communities, emphasising the importance of steering clear of racial and religious issues during campaigning and politicking.

“Malaysia can never be a united nation and cannot be in real and genuine peace and harmony if politicians are allowed to use issues of race and religion for politicking and promoting themselves during elections.”

Minos said it would be better and wiser to do it the Sarawak way where the various races with their own religions and cultures generally live in peace and harmony.
