Concentrate on bringing development to your constituencies, PH reps told

KUCHING: PH Sarawak has been told to just do their tasks instead of constantly complaining about other people’s work.

“In a few days, it will be 365 days since PH took over the power of government. Give us a list of what exactly you have done for Sarawak,” said Datuk Murshid Diraja Dr Juanda Jaya (GPS-Jemoreng) when debating the Head of State Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud’s opening remarks at the State Legislative Assembly sitting yesterday.

“Tell us, how many billions have you received from the federal government to be brought to Sarawak for development and the prosperity of Sarawakians?”

According to Juanda, PH Sarawak assemblymen are only keen to pry into the businesses of other constituencies instead of concentrating on their own constituencies.

“For example, a Sibu assemblyman has time to find illegal Indonesian immigrants in Kapit instead of helping the needy in his area. Then a member in Miri went to play hero leaving behind his people and throwing candies to students in Marudi,” he said.

He then told the opposition not to hold too many press conferences instead of actually doing solid work that produce concrete results.

“You have to understand that if you are living in a glass house, avoid throwing stones or the house will collapse,” he said.

“The state government can do development projects for this year spending almost RM10 billion so far, so what about the Opposition?

How many billions have you brought in for development here?

“The federal government cancelled RM1.8 million for Kampung Haji Baki, RM2.8 million for small projects in Jemoreng, and worst of all, RM300 million for the construction of Batang Igan bridge and RM1 billion for Batang Lupar bridge.

“If the federal government really wants to help Sarawak, hurry up and pay the five per cent sales tax on our petroleum. This is already May. Companies such as Shell and Nippon are more patriotic as they have met the state government to make payments. How about Petronas?” he asked.
