KUCHING: State SUPP Youth Central Chief, Tan Kai expressed his deep concern with the serious flood in Penang where nearly 80 percent of the State was flooded resulting in the death of seven persons. “We convey our deepest condolences to the families of the victims. The devastating damages caused by the great flood had shocked the country.

We hope the people in Penang would take all measures to ensure their safety, and follow the advice of the rescue teams. We hope the people in Penang would bravely stand up to face the future. No body would feel happy to witness the occurrence of the disaster.

The important thing now is to carry out the rescue work, help the flood victims to rebuild their homes.

It is useless and pointless to point fingers at one another. The prime work is to find the cause of the flood and to take measures to prevent recurrence ,” he said.

Tan Kai said he regrets that DAP Kuching Bandar MP cum Sentosa DUN member, Chong Chieng Jin, chose to put all the blame on the Federal Government while accusing the DPM. We in SUPP would never blame others without first making self reflection and finding the causes of the issues.

“To the DAP, every thing it does is correct and right, while whatever their opponent had done are wrong. As such, DAP put all blame on others.

Such a way does not help solve the issue. We would advise Chong Chieng Jin to stop pointing fingers at others, criticising their opponent, trying to gain cheap publicity in the press. It is curious that when State ruled by DAP faced issues, the Sarawak DAP would remain dumb, or just placing the blames on others or on the previous government. Such a way of dealing with issues would never help to solve them.

I would never agree to such tactics displayed by the DAP. The Penang Disaster Management Committee headed by the Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng, felt grateful to the DPM who answered his early morning call for help.

Why then should Chong Chieng Jin point his fingers at the DPM? Does it mean that Chong Chieng Jin wants the Federal Government to take over the power and authority that belongs to the State Government?” he asked.
