KUCHING: What was a regular day at work nearly turned into a tragedy for a store employee after the ceiling of a shop at a shopping mall here caved in on her this morning.

In confirming this, Sarawak police commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail said the woman was immediately rushed to the Sarawak General Hospital by security guards at the scene for further treatment.

“The 10.10am incident happened on the first floor of the shopping mall where the ceiling of the store suddenly collapsed.

“Only one employee was at the premises during the incident. She suffered from minor injuries on her head after she was struck by falling debris,” he said today.

He added that the women’s clothing store will also be filing a police report soon for internal investigations to be carried out.

“So far, no reports have been made (at press time). The victim has also not lodged a police report,” he added.

As for the cause of the incident, Aidi said the matter is still under investigation.
