KUCHING: Showcasing Tourism Product (STP) Sarawak is one of the ways to introduce the Nexus Productivity to tourism industry players, said Tourism Productivity Nexus chairman Uzaidi Udanis. He said it also aims to make travel industry catalysts to generate multiplier effects to further enhance the activities of tourism activities in every explored destination. “ The STP programme is unique because it involves all levels of agencies from federal, state and local authorities — all aiming to generate higher returns from tourism activities,” he said at the launching of STP yesterday.
According to him, the STP in Kuching is the fourth series after Negeri Sembilan, Terengganu and Pahang. “Follow ing this event, we have launched a special platform for industry players, Tourism Arrival Performance System (TAPS) and Tourism B2B. Tourism B2B is an online electronic platform that enables stakeholders (travel agents, tour operators, hotel operators and transport operators) to maximise their business opportunities through opportunities and information sharing.
“With Tourism-B2B platform it will further facilitate sharing of data and information in real time to improve productivity in the tourism sector,” he added. Uzaidi elaborated Tourism Productivity Nexus and MPC have brought to Sarawak the latest MPC products such as EzBE and ePGM which is self-assessment tool to evaluate organisation excellence.
“The recognition of MyTQA by MoTAC is seen as one of the events that prioritises travelers. It is a recognition of tourism and provides exposure to tourism industry players to prioritise the quality of service. “What we want in tourism industry is quality.
Our target is high-end tourists, and to appreciate the nature and Sarawak has plenty of nature. With this platform, the price of ticket can be increased,” he said, adding it is time for Sarawak to become a premium tourism destination. Tourism Productivity Nexus also celebrates the involvement of tourism industry associations in the national productivity agenda by placing productivity pledges. “I urge industry partners to take advantage of this Nexus Productivity platform. It is an opportunity for us to work together to mobilise our mission in applying high productivity thinking and culture in our daily lives,” stressed Uzaidi.
