LUNDU: Two female hikers stranded at the Gunung Gading National Park last night (Jan 15) have been rescued and brought down to the park headquarters by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) personnel.
The duo, aged 53 and 57, were found around 2.20am this morning (Jan 16) near the Rock Well (Batu Berkubu), and suffered from cold and fatigue.
A spokesman for Bomba said the victims were then given blankets to warm themselves and water to rehydrate.
The victims were only brought down to the park headquarters around 6.50am as the trail down was dark and slippery.
Those involved in the rescue operation are firemen from Lundu station, police, park rangers and members of the public.
Last night, Bomba received a distress call around 6.10pm from the police and despatched firemen form the Lundu fire station to the scene.
