The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) reported a powerful earthquake in South Argentina at 11.05am today (July 17).
The earthquake, measuring 6.6 magnitude, occurred at a depth of 154 kilometres with coordinates 38.0 degrees south, 70.3 degrees west, and was situated 212 kilometres east of Temuco, Chile.
MetMalaysia has issued no tsunami threat to Malaysia in response to the earthquake.
