SERIAN: The Sarawak Teachers’ Union (STU) serves as an agent of change beneficial to the welfare of its members, the union’s Serian division chairman Alva Amin Chu said.
Speaking at the division’s first annual general meeting (AGM) here last Saturday (Aug 15) he said: “The sharing of ideas at the AGM can determine the direction of the union in facing the challenges of the education world.”
Alva said the Serian division inaugural AGM marked the union’s existence as the 12th division.
“Other than that, the AGM can also strengthen financial management and activity planning,” he said in his speech at the Serian Community Hall.
Meanwhile, union president Kullin Djayang congratulated STU Serian for its establishment which he deemed necessary for the sake of future generations.
“Having said that, STU needs to attract more young new members and be consistent in recruiting new members,” he added.
