KUCHING: The Special Financial Assistance (BKK) amounting to two months’ basic salary should be extended to all civil servants holding Sarawak-issued identification cards and retired civil servants, says Sarawak Teachers Union (STU) president Kullin Djayang.

He explained that Sarawakian civil servants across the country also play a significant role in the formation of the government, particularly during state elections.

“STU also urges the Sarawak government to provide incentives for Sarawak-born retired civil servants.

“These individuals have served the state and continue to contribute to government formation during elections.

“Hence, it is only fair that every service and contribution of Sarawakians be recognised with equitable incentives as a token of appreciation for their dedication to building the state into the high-income region it is today,” he said.

He said this during the officiation of the School Representatives Seminar organised by STU Sri Aman Division here yesterday (Nov 23).

As a union, STU hopes all civil servants will continue to serve with sincerity and unwavering commitment for the betterment of Sarawak, he said.

STU also expressed its deep appreciation to the Sarawak government for its RM700 financial aid for federal civil servants, calling it a gesture of consistent recognition of civil servants’ contributions in the state.

Additionally, the union lauded the RM1,200 incentive for Sarawak-born students pursuing studies at institutions of higher learning across the country, regardless of their family income.

“This initiative is appropriate and should be maintained annually as these students are invaluable assets for the state’s future continuity,” he said.
