KUCHING: The recently announced financial assistance of RM500 for federal civil servants in Sarawak by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is the first of its kind.
Sarawak Teachers Union (STU) hoped that this would continue while applauding the state government for extending its generosity towards federal civil servants in the state.
“With the assistance, STU hopes federal civil servants, especially teachers, would serve the state more confidently as it shows that their services are appreciated,” said STU president Macky Joseph in a statement, yesterday.
Apart from that, STU also urged both the federal and state governments to cooperate in developing the infrastructure of schools in both urban and rural areas.
On Tuesday, Abang Johari announced that federal civil servants in Sarawak would receive financial assistance of RM500 from the Sarawak government in appreciation of their services.
Speaking at the State Civil Service Day at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, he added that the aid would be paid by next June and considered an addition to the RM500 assistance from the federal government.
