KUCHING: A total of 124 A-Level and O-Level students from St Joseph’s International School passed with flying colours in October/November examinations last year.
One A-level student scored straight As in five papers namely Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Chinese. Eight others achieved As in four subjects.
Meanwhile, of the 91 IGCSE (O-level) students who sat for their examination in 2021, one obtained A* in all the eight papers she sat for, three earned A* in seven papers and four obtained A in six papers.
St. Joseph’s International School principal Brother Robert Teoh was overjoyed at his students’ achievements.
“These exams are only the first step in the students’ academic and professional life,” he said.
Meanwhile, the chief executive officer of St. Joseph’s Family of Schools (which comprises St. Joseph’s International School and St. Joseph’s Private Primary and Secondary Schools) Christopher Chua, said the students’ results reflected the personal efforts of the students and that of the community.
“In education circles, 21st-century skills are frequently discussed. The holistic aims of St. Joseph’s International School embrace the skills needed for this century.
“Its innovative approach encourages communication, collaboration and communications that lead to student-centred teaching,” Chua said in a statement on Tuesday (Jan 25).
St. Joseph’s International School, which opened in 2017, encourages students to use personal laptops when it initiated one of the first BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) policies in Malaysia.
The far-thinking views of the school’s first principal, Brother Paul Hough, continue to be reflected in the school.
