BAU: Six students and a local man sustained injuries after the school van they were traveling in skidded off the road and rolled down a slope along Jalan Kampung Pangkalan Tebang this morning.
The accident occurred at around 7.50 am, involving three male and three female students from SMK Lake. The van, driven by a 52-year-old man, was en route to SMK Lake when it veered off the road and overturned down the slope.
Firefighters from Bau station were dispatched to the scene, about 18km away, after receiving a distress call.
It was reported that all of the victims were rescued from the vehicle by members of the public before the firefighters’ arrival.
The students and the driver were taken to Bau Hospital and Krokong Health Clinic for further medical attention. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known.
No rescue operation was needed, as the team only monitored the situation before returning to their station at 8.18 am.
